About Me.
Kate Eliza Ryan is a singer/songwriter and Acoustic Solo Artist living in Sydney, NSW.
Born and raised in Blacktown, Kate began performing at age 10, and attended performing arts studios during her childhood and teen years, as well as perform in musicals and showcases throughout high school. In 2014, Kate left performing arts to pursue music.
Kate started performing at local open mic nights, where she taught herself to play guitar and improve on her skills as a musician. In September 2015, Kate won a local Open Mic Smackdown where she performed her cover of Ed Sheeran’s “I See Fire”. Kate went on to post covers of popular songs, vlogs and short films on her YouTube channel the same year.
After taking a short break in 2017 to work various day jobs, Kate released her first single in May 2020 called “Team Player”, a song she wrote inspired by her pervious experience as a dancer and her journey entering the music industry, honing in on her songwriting skills, and simply about making her own rules. It became the main single off her self-titled EP she later released in October of that same year.
Since then Kate has played weekly gigs and private events across the western suburbs. Her voice has become a talking point of those who encounter her at a gig, it’s not uncommon to see patrons singing along, tapping their feet, or a few “thank you’s” from patrons to really show their appreciation. Kate looks forward to playing at more gigs and private events in the future, with weddings being next on her horizon.
Kate’s musical style comprises of pop, but considers her overall style to be eclectic, as she also takes inspiration from RnB, Soul, Rock, Folk, Indie/Alternative and Country, and has cited a number of influences over the years. From Beyoncé, who was her inspiration behind taking up a career in music, to other artists like Adele, Lorde, Lana Del Rey, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Maggie Rogers, Michael Jackson and Kacey Musgraves.
